What is FUROSCIX?

FUROSCIX is a prescription medicine used to treat fluid buildup, which can cause congestion or swelling (also known as edema), in pediatric patients who weigh at least 95 lbs. (43 kg) and adult patients with chronic heart failure or chronic kidney disease.

FUROSCIX ReadyFlow™ is not intended for use in children less than 18 years old.

FUROSCIX is not for chronic use—after taking FUROSCIX, your care team will put you back on your everyday oral diuretic as soon as possible. When you take FUROSCIX, it is important to follow the instructions your care team gives you.

Once prescribed, how do I get FUROSCIX?

When you are prescribed FUROSCIX, your prescription will typically be sent by your care team to FUROSCIX Direct®. FUROSCIX Direct will determine coverage of your prescription.

Once coverage is determined, your prescription will be filled by our FUROSCIX Direct partner pharmacy. FUROSCIX will be delivered directly to your home.

FUROSCIX Direct or the partner pharmacy will make repeated attempts to reach you by phone and/or text. Make sure to add 1-855-387-6724 to your mobile phone contacts so you do not miss the call.

Your prescription can only be filled through FUROSCIX Direct—not your local pharmacy.

Please note: If you are located in Puerto Rico, Alivia Specialty Pharmacy will coordinate your delivery of FUROSCIX and provide any additional support.

How often do I use FUROSCIX? Does it replace my oral diuretic?

FUROSCIX is not intended for chronic, long-term use. Your care team will determine how many doses you should use and when. Once your FUROSCIX treatment is complete, your care team will put you back on your everyday oral diuretic as soon as possible.

It’s important to stay aware of your fluid buildup symptoms. Make sure to note any new symptoms—or changes to ones you already have—and let your care team know right away. The earlier you let them know, the better chance you have to get relief quickly and at home with FUROSCIX.

How do I take FUROSCIX?

FUROSCIX is delivered into your body through a prefilled, single-use device called an “autoinjector.” Once you firmly press the autoinjector against your stomach, it automatically injects FUROSCIX in only a few seconds.

It is important to read and understand the FUROSCIX Instructions for Use. That document is included in the FUROSCIX kit that will be delivered to your home. You can also use the FUROSCIX Quick Reference Guide.

Is FUROSCIX difficult for patients to use themselves?

The FUROSCIX ReadyFlow autoinjector was designed for simple, at-home use by patients, with or without help from a caregiver. Autoinjectors are common devices that you may already be familiar with from other medicines.

The team at FUROSCIX met with real patients to make sure the Instructions for Use were easy to understand. Almost every person understood the instructions and were able to correctly use the FUROSCIX ReadyFlow autoinjector.

Where on my body should I use FUROSCIX?

The FUROSCIX ReadyFlow autoinjector should be placed against and injected into your stomach area at least 2 inches away from your belly button—do not use FUROSCIX on any other part of your body. Do not select a site where the skin is irritated or broken. Avoid areas with scars or stretch marks. Switch areas on the stomach each time you give an injection.

What should I do if I have extra doses of FUROSCIX?

You may be prescribed multiple doses of FUROSCIX at one time; however, you may not need all doses for treatment. Your doctor will decide how many doses you need for treatment. Any doses you do not use can be stored for several months but check the expiration date on the package before use. Do not take FUROSCIX out of the carton until you are ready to use it. Keep FUROSCIX out of direct light.

Does FUROSCIX need to be refrigerated?

FUROSCIX should not be refrigerated. It should be stored at room temperature, which is between 68°F and 77°F (20°C and 25°C).

Is there a way to lower out-of-pocket costs for FUROSCIX?

Yes, FUROSCIX Direct offers services to lower out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients. These include copay support and patient assistance programs. A FUROSCIX Direct representative can provide more information on your options. Remember to ask them about the cost of FUROSCIX when they call to verify your information.
